New Solution: IP Frame Switching

Layer 2 switch equipped with static routing functionality!

"IP Frame Switching" is a switching hub that has the functions of an L2 switch while incorporating more advanced features. By equipping a layer 2 switch with static routing capabilities, it can utilize some functions similar to a layer 3 switch. - Equipped with static routing capabilities on an L2 switch - Enables subnet separation for each site in a wide area network - By combining with LVRP, configuration changes for each unit are unnecessary - Reduces the operational management burden by compensating for the disadvantages of static registration with LVRP This is a network solution with the above features.

[Case Study of 10 Gigabit L3 Switch Implementation] Murayama City, Yamagata Prefecture

With the introduction of HCI, D-Link's 10-gigabit L3 switches have been adopted, consolidating management while maintaining three-layer separation to achieve efficient network operations.

During the network resilience enhancement, L3 switches from another company were introduced. At that time, redundancy was achieved by operating two L3 switches each without using VRF. Although the configuration was simple before the upgrade, maintaining a configuration of four L3 switches after the upgrade would incur significant costs, so we were considering optimal configurations with proposals. In April 2023, alongside the introduction of Nutanix's HCI (Hyper-Converged Infrastructure), the core switches were also upgraded, and operations began. The core switch introduced was the D-Link 10 Gigabit L3 switch "DXS-3610-54T." In preparation for the introduction, we spoke with the representatives from Murayama City about the challenges and concepts they had, as well as the changes brought about by the network upgrade, including the sales group and technical representatives from High-Tech Systems who were involved in the network construction. [Key Points] - Consolidation and redundancy using 10G switches carried out simultaneously with the HCI introduction - Long-term warranty considered one of the important points - Improved manageability of the simplified core switches

[Case Study] Mie Prefectural Board of Education

No issues and hassle-free! Case study of the gigabit layer 2 switch "FXC5126".

The Mie Prefectural Board of Education is working on effective utilization of IT and has introduced the FXC Gigabit Layer 2 Switch "FXC5126" to efficiently promote digitalization. The FXC switches have an extremely low failure rate, ensuring that there are no interruptions in operations, which provides peace of mind and is also reassuring in terms of security. Additionally, they have received praise for their "high cost performance" due to their good pricing and many functional capabilities. It seems that users have felt that the port density (purely 24 ports usable + additional ports) is good, and there is a sense of flexibility for future functionality. [Case Study] ■ Mie Prefectural Board of Education ■ Product Introduced: Gigabit Layer 2 Switch "FXC5126" *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Kumamoto University

Introducing FXC products that are active in various scenarios through case studies!

At Kumamoto University, we have previously introduced a number of FXC L2 switches, but due to significant aging, a large-scale replacement has taken place this time. The goal was to change nothing in the configuration, speed up where possible, and replace the machines with ones that can operate more stably. The "FXC5148XG," "FXC5150," and "5126" were introduced and installed in various locations across the expansive campus, which is about 15 times the size of Tokyo Dome. We were concerned that machines with moving parts like fans would inevitably experience failures due to aging, but we heard about the launch of FXC's lifetime warranty service. "We can use it with peace of mind, as it is even more stable than before and comes with a lifetime guarantee," we received positive feedback, and we are very honored. [Case Study] ■ Kumamoto University ■ Products Introduced: FXC switches FXC5148XG, FXC5150, 5126 *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Gigabit L2 Switch Case Study] Eiden Electronics Co., Ltd. (Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment)

D-Link's Gigabit L2 switch is adopted in domestically produced semiconductor manufacturing equipment, responding to the severe semiconductor shortage with a global supply system.

In 2022, the global expansion of semiconductor demand led to a sharp increase in the shipment of "semiconductor manufacturing equipment." A significant issue that arose was the unprecedented delays in delivery of "embedded devices" used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The ongoing semiconductor shortage made it impossible to manufacture embedded devices, resulting in prolonged delivery times, with L2 switches being one of the seriously affected devices. On the other hand, D-Link's Gigabit Layer 2 Easy Smart Switch, the "DGS-1100V2 series," secured sufficient inventory through a global supply system and was adopted as an embedded device for domestic semiconductor manufacturing equipment. To discuss the transition from the previously delivered L2 switches to D-Link's L2 switch DGS-1100V2 series, we spoke with a representative from Sakae Denki Co., Ltd., a comprehensive trading company of electronic components and one of the suppliers for a certain semiconductor manufacturing equipment manufacturer. [Key Points] - D-Link's global supply system responds to the surge in orders for embedded devices in semiconductor manufacturing equipment amid a serious semiconductor shortage. - L2 switches for semiconductor manufacturing equipment prioritize stable operation over a multitude of functions. - The product warranty system allows for long-term support without the need to register each unit's serial number.
